Habitat Outlines New 2020 Vision
June 2011 - Habitat for Humanity Greater San Francisco's Board of Directors approved a bold 2020 Vision-outlining our aspirations and goals for the next decade. Three Local Families Receive Keys To Homes
June 7, 2011 - Three homes in East Palo Alto and Belle Haven were in foreclosure when Habitat for Humanity Greater San Francisco acquired them last year as part of its Neighborhood Revitalization Program (NRP) and began renovations to curb the neighborhood blight. Today, not only is the blight gone, but three families are now becoming homeowners and creating new opportunities for their families as a result of the program.

High Stakes for Habitat Raises More Than $137,000
May 19, 2011-- More than 250 guests joined the Young Leaders Circle in celebrating Habitat for Humanity Greater San Francisco's work at High Stakes for Habitat. The casino event, hosted at the stunning Julia Morgan Ballroom, raised more than $137,000 in support of Habitat's mission to provide safe, decent, affordable housing in Marin, San Francisco and the Peninsula.

Construction Begins on 36-Home Development in Daly City
SAN FRANCISCO, CALIF., November 15, 2010-- As Habitat for Humanity Greater San Francisco makes steady progress on its largest and most ambitious development to date, a four-story, 36 condominium complex at 7555 Mission Street in Daly City, its Neighborhood Revitalization Program (NRP) continues to expand into new communities that have been hard-hit by the foreclosure crisis. Following introductions of the NRP in Menlo Park, Novato and San Rafael, the latest community to benefit from the program is East Palo Alto, where renovations are well underway on three foreclosed homes recently acquired by Habitat.

World Habitat Day
October 4, 2010 -- In recognition of "World Habitat Day," Habitat for Humanity Greater San Francisco today announced significant progress in its foreclosure recovery effort -- the Neighborhood Revitalization Program (NRP) -- with more than $3 million committed to the program through strong community support and 18 NRP homes completed, under renovation, or planned thus far. As a United Nations-designated day to raise awareness about the lack of adequate housing in cities around the world, Habitat Greater San Francisco chose today to highlight the continuing foreclosure crisis in Marin, San Francisco and the Peninsula, especially areas such as Novato, East Palo Alto, and the Belle Haven neighborhood of Menlo Park that have been destabilized by the increased default rates in their communities.

San Bruno Disaster
September 15, 2010 - Our hearts go out to everyone who was affected by the tragedy in San Bruno. Habitat staff is in communication with the Volunteer Center and other coordinating parties and we have offered our assistance as needed. As opportunities to assist are passed along, we will post them to our website for Habitat volunteers and supporters. Currently, organizations such as the American Red Cross are aiding with the immediate response. Others like the Silicon Valley Community Foundation and the San Francisco Foundation are accepting donations for the longer-term rebuilding effort in San Bruno.
Community celebrates first Habitat home in Marin
June 19, 2010 - With scores of community well-wishers looking on, Miguel and Alejandra Garza became the first Habitat for Humanity homeowners in Marin County following more than 15 years of efforts to bring Habitat's affordable housing program to the region.
"Finally being able to provide a home for my family is a dream come true for me," said Miguel after receiving the keys to his Novato home on Father's Day weekend.

The development is a cornerstone of the Grand Boulevard Initiative, exemplifying the revitalization that is underway along El Camino Real to provide compact, urban design and construction in a pedestrian-friendly, transit-oriented corridor.

HABITAT BRINGS NEW HOMEOWNERSHIP OPPORTUNITIES TO BAYVIEW NEIGHBORHOOD
May 15, 2010 -- At a dedication event celebrating seven new homeowners in the Bayview neighborhood of San Francisco, Habitat for Humanity Greater San Francisco announced a new initiative to help more local families take advantage of homeownership opportunities. Habitat introduced the Homebuyer Readiness Program, offering workshops on debt reduction, credit repair, and money management to help remove obstacles and better prepare families with low incomes for homeownership. "This is truly a thing of joy," said new homeowner Nkechi. "It is a beautiful dream that I would not have had without Habitat and so many people helping to make it come true."
