May 13, 2010 - The City of Daly City, along with Habitat for Humanity Greater San Francisco, has received the Grand Boulevard Award for Habitat's new development at 7555 Mission Street in Daly City. At a ceremony hosted by SAMCEDA and Joint Venture Silicon Valley Network at the Mountain View City Hall, the development was recognized for exemplifying the guiding principles of the Grand Boulevard Initiative (GBI).
Epitomizing the GBI's vision that El Camino Real will achieve its full potential to create links between communities that promote walking and transit with an improved and meaningful quality of life for local residents, Habitat's 7555 Mission Street Development was one of seven developments along the El Camino corridor to receive the award.
The 7555 Mission Street development is Habitat Greater San Francisco's largest and most ambitious affordable housing development to date: a four-story, $15 million affordable housing condominium development that will enable 36 hardworking families to realize their dream of homeownership. The City of Daly City provided the land for the homes and additional pre-development construction funding - an investment of more than $5 million.
