The Habitat Model

The homeownership model at Habitat Greater San Francisco (Habitat GSF) is designed to enable Habitat GSF families to experience stability and build equity across generations:

  • Monthly housing payments are capped at 30% of income
  • Homebuyers put 0% down and pay 0% interest on their mortgage
  • Future homeowners put in up to 500 hours of “sweat equity” to help build their homes

What does the Lottery do?

The lottery sets the processing order. Your lottery number indicates when your application will be reviewed for eligibility. For example, if your lottery number is 1, your application will be reviewed first.
