Application/Selection Process - San Francisco and Marin
During selection periods, Habitat will host orientations where interested applicants can attend and receive an application.
Habitat will process applications and determine if the family meets the basic requirements of the program.
Applications are given a preliminary financial review to determine if their household income meets our guidelines.
Applications that pass the preliminary financial review will be sent for a credit check.
Applicants that pass the credit review will participate in a home visit and be interviewed by two to three members of the homeowner development department and family selection committee. The purpose of the home interview is to learn more about a family's current living situation and to become further acquainted.
Applications that demonstrate a need for housing, an ability to pay and a willingness to partner are approved for selection by the family selection committee and the Habitat for Humanity Greater San Francisco board of directors and become partners with Habitat Greater San Francisco. Together the families and Habitat Greater San Francisco make a "commitment to partnership".
