Volunteer Profile
Bob Mougeot Office Volunteer, Redwood City

Each year, thousands of volunteers work on the construction site to help build our Habitat homes. It is a facet of the program for which Habitat is best known and is critical to our success. Behind the scenes, however, are volunteers who work in strategic roles for the organization and help move Habitat Greater San Francisco forward. "I really enjoy working at Habitat," says Bob Mougeot, retired CPA and CFO who volunteers more then 700 hours in the Redwood City office each year. Bob has designed database information systems for current homeowners, homeowner applications and project administration. According to Bob, the most rewarding part about his volunteer work is being part of a program that enables homeownership for people who otherwise could not afford it.
"Habitat is a tremendous model where the public and private sector come together with individuals in a way that really builds community. Having a home makes a tremendous difference in the life of a family - providing a much better opportunity for happy, healthy children."
"Each community has its own special needs that many of us don't recognize. Sure, we can give our money internationally, but really it's what happens at the local level that makes a difference."
"As an individual, I can make a small contribution and be a part of the Habitat process. So I'm always very proud to see the families move into their homes."
