Habitat Greater San Francisco constructed 28 single-family homes in the Ocean View district of San Francisco, a neighborhood of rich cultural and ethnic diversity which has seen little development of new affordable housing in its 150 year history. Habitat Terrace include s11 two-bedroom homes for households earning up to 60% of the area median income (AMI) and 17 three-bedroom homes priced to be affordable to households earning up to 90% AMI. Each house includes a one-car garage on the ground floor and a private back yard. Two car share spaces are included in the development to allow residents alternatives to owning a car.
These homes are GreenPoint Rated through Build It Green and include environmental features such as rooftop solar panels to offset domestic energy consumption, fiber-cement siding, innovative stormwater management systems, drought tolerant landscaping, low-VOC finishes, and tankless water heaters. Habitat Terrace homes are designed to be consistent with the scale and density of the homes in the surrounding neighborhood and are built with a focus on energy and water efficiency as well as durability. The Ocean View neighborhood offers a variety of public places, transportation options, and local businesses located within a short walk of the Habitat Terrace homes.
